Adolf Heusinger (4 August 1897 - 30 November 1982) was a German general. After serving during WWI, he joined the Reichswehr in 1920 and was assigned to the operations staff of the Troop Office in 1931. In 1937, he became major in the operations division of the High Command. He was promoted lieutenant general by Hitler in 1943. On 20 July 1944, he was among the staff present in the conference room of FHQ Wolfsschanze where the bomb exploded. He was arrested and imprisoned due to some doubts about his implication in the assassination attempt, but was found innocent, he nonetheless was dismissed from his military functions. After the war, he became military adviser for chancellor Adenauer, and played an important role in the creation of the Bundeswehr.
